Optimising ozone transfer and mixing

This project is still ongoing, and we cannot give too much details. Our client PureBlue developed a novel ozonation system for industrial wastewater treatment, maximising ozone transfer efficiency. The main design questions were optimal reactor dimensions and operational settings.

Major findings

  • Our simulations can be used to lower scale-up costs
  • If one still decides to perform piloting, the piloting systems can be designed more effectively which increases piloting efficiency
  • In this system, the gas and liquid flow patterns, and optimal flow rates and settings, are hard to optimise based on trial and error
